Five Things You Need to Know about Writing Articles

Five Things You Need to Know about Writing Articles

You can write articles with a knack for writing and a desire to write. But if you’re not putting hard work in, then it’s just another article that never seems interesting enough to be published. And that isn’t a problem. It’s a good thing if you don’t have the knack. If you do? Then you need to put extra time and effort into making sure your writing doesn't become sloppy or bad-tempered.

Five Things You Need to Know about Writing Articles

But how? How do you get to better as a writer? How can you improve your writing skills? There are many ways. First, get rid of those “lack of attention span” excuses and start taking some serious notes on your own every paragraph and sentence. Take note of what needs to be explained. When a certain subject is spoken about, ask questions and make a list of all the facts you need to know. Second, don’t believe everything you read. Sometimes you need to find the evidence. Don’t rely exclusively on what you read. Find out which sources you can trust when looking for information and only take them for what they promise. Third, focus on yourself when you write. This includes creating an outline, writing down any ideas you might have, and reading some of your works before you write them. Write one full word per paragraph. Instead of starting your next blog post by writing a 10-word story, try to write in a single word. Put together sentences that make sense instead of trying to sound like someone who knows more than you. Fourth, avoid passive voice. Many writers swear by this rule, but there’s no such thing as being passive when writing about life itself. Passive-sounding statements are a common enemy of most people’s learning process. Use negative or angry words instead. Say things like “I am” instead of using a person’s name and put emphasis on something or someone else in a negative statement. Be able to use your personal experience to help others. A common mistake new writers make when first beginning their blogging journey is using a personal example over an actual event. By doing so, they lose the ability to connect to the reader or audience, rather than coming across as an expert. Most people don’t want to hear that they can only talk about their experiences and opinions when it’s necessary. The best way to create positive connections is to explain to the reader why they should care. That means explaining that the problem you’re trying to solve was encountered because of a terrible decision made by a friend/family member, and because of some other cause, and/or having been caused because of a disease. It also means showing the readers that you saw these same problems and tried your hand at solutions and you learned a lot of useful life lessons from them. Finally, learn the craft. Every newbie blogger will say that if you want to start writing again, you should pick up a pen and write regularly. Maybe it's true sometimes, but I think it shows up often: you’ve written several times already and you just haven’t stopped. Your first blog post probably won't be very good. I suggest going back again and using a different theme, style, tone, or tone altogether. Just make sure that you continue to develop your skill of writing and always remember that every word counts.

Five Things You Need to Know about Writing Articles

No matter where you are in your blogging journey, each step offers some kind of lesson about improving. You may not be doing anything drastically different. What are the five biggest pieces of advice you need to follow as a beginner?

1) Set deadlines for your posts.

The goal here is to be consistent, so you set goals when you write. If you set your timetable for a month, you will likely be writing about your own experiences.

2) Create a habit of checking off tasks.

Many of us love our smartphones, laptops, tablets, etc. and we may even use them as daily assistants. However, it all comes down to consistency. Check out this article which has tips on how to stay focused on your tasks.

3)  Practice patience.

Be willing to wait a few weeks to see responses to your blog posts. Listen to every comment and offer feedback and response to all of them. See if the responses are helpful and helpful in any of your previous posts.

Practice patience

4) Keep track of time & events.

Time is precious and time is money. Staying organized and keeping track can help you be more efficient at your job. For example, you could get an email notification as soon as your computer starts running, and the system starts to run smoothly. Or you could get alerts via an app that notify you when something happens or sends new emails. Whatever method works best may change all the time.

Keep track of time & events

5) Follow a routine.

Your body produces hormones that influence your sleep, appetite, and energy levels. Keeping your body functioning well will not only allow you to concentrate better but is also great for your mental health and wellbeing, as well as helping you maintain your diet.

Follow a routine

Here are seven steps that you can take to keep your body functioning properly:

1) Get plenty of sleep. Good quality sleep ensures that your brain and body are receiving signals for recovery when you wake up the following morning.

 2) Exercise every day of the week. Research, exercise, and live!

 3) Eat your food well. Foods rich in fiber, vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients will help you feel fuller and longer-lasting.

4) Drink water and coffee. Coffee helps boost metabolism, while the water keeps your skin cool while you eat food.

5) Sleep at least 7–8 hours a night. Make sure you get a minimum of 6–9 hours of sleep per night so your body is getting the rest it needs to function.

 6) Relax a little. Resting your mind, body, and soul on a nightly basis can relieve stress in all areas and allow you to sleep better.

 7) Maintain a healthy relationship with family and friends. While it’s important you have meaningful relationships with others, it is equally important that you maintain healthy connections (and friendships). Ask for support if needed, be open to it, and value that relationship as a whole instead of anyone's part. Plus, remember that you aren't the only person dealing with tough issues, and you aren't alone. Seek someone or a group you trust to talk through difficult events with you and feel comfortable and safe.
